Sunday
Last night the KUMC bus and several cars arrived at the Hinton Rural Life Center in Hayesville, NC. This morning the group divided in two, with some on the lake boating and others worshiping at Oak Forest United Methodist Church. After a few hours of fun, we returned to Hinton and gathered with other churches for orientation. Once we learned our work groups for the week, we went to dinner and heard about the homes we would be working on. The night concluded with worship in the chapel and fellowship in the retreat house.
Monday
Morning came early, with groups packing lunch as early as 7:30. Fifteen minutes later, all of the churches gathered, participated in "morning exercise," and engaged in devotion. Breakfast followed, and soon KUMC's four work teams were loading cars to leave Hinton hill. It was a full day of work, but the teams returned to an excellent dinner prepared by the Hinton staff and the anticipation of the evening's devotion.
